The MVP
Great game for Danny Agbelese (16 points – 12 rebounds – 3 blocks), but the one who judged the game was Ian Miller. The American played only 23 minutes due to the four fouls he had, but returned to the final and scored nine consecutive points to judge the game with his enormous talent on the scoreboard.
THE WEAK LINK
Steven Gray. He is the leader of Peristeri, but in the final with Prometheus he did not play according to his skills and experience. In 28 minutes he scored 13 points, but from 3/13 shots and 5/5 shots.
THE STATISTICS THAT stood out
Prometheus closed the first half with 3/12 three points, posting 14 points of the 11 rebounds on the rebound. Peristeri, on the other hand, scored 24 points from his bench, had 23 shots of two for eight triples and seemed more balanced. At the end of the night, the 16 points scored by the winners from their 15 offensive rebounds, as well as the 19 points from the 13 errors by the losers, played their part.
THE RACE
With Gray making the first few attempts, Peristeri built a small five-point lead early (4-9 in 4 ‘), before we see a series from both sides. Prometheus ran a bit from 11-16 to 17-16, before Skordilis won battles and helped his team close the first ten minutes at +3 (20-23).
A good three minutes by Peristeri gave him an air of nine points (24-33) at the start of the second half, with Mavrokefalidis entering the court for the first time during the tournament, but not in a good degree of preparation. Patras was not as effective as they had against AEK, but they struggled, with Agbelese giving them a push and the 37-41 of the half probably flattering them. The truth is that the final was open to any result.
With Gaddy standing out and Gray following, Peristeri continued to have the lead early in the third period and with a slight difference. A triple by Giannopoulos for 60-65 at the end of the quarter and another from Agravanis for 65-65 at 33 ‘gave the game a thriller character, with Patras going from 37’ to the shooting line.
Of course, they did not need the bonus, as Ian Miller returned with four fouls, scored nine consecutive points, scored 79-74 and judged the game, a game that Prometheus took with a mediocre appearance. And this adds even more value to their success as it shows that the people of Patras are slowly becoming a great team.
