Greece is at a critical stage in the course of the pandemic, government spokesman Stelios Petsas said during a briefing for political authors.
He called on all citizens to take seriously the example of other countries and specifically referred to France, which has approximately six times the population of Greece and consistently more than 10,000 cases per day.
He remarked that proportionally Greece would exceed 1,600, but thanks to the measures and collective responsibility shown by citizens, the cases have stabilized at more than 300 per day.
He also highlighted that the comparison with other countries with similar populations, such as the Netherlands and Belgium, shows that our country still manages better both in number of cases and in number of deaths. Indeed, relevant tables were published comparing epidemiological data from Greece with Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal.

Petsas emphasized that to avoid tougher measures for the coronavirus, which will cost the economy and society, we must all meticulously implement the measures that are already in place.
He stressed the importance of wearing a mask in all enclosed spaces and especially in public transport, where great care is needed during peak hours.
He stressed that the government is doing everything possible to address the congestion problem, relying on teleworking on 40% triptychs when possible, rolling schedules and more buses.
Mr. Petsas said that new announcements will be made in the coming days to increase the fleet with dozens of buses. Currently there are 1,100 buses on the roads with a capacity of 60 to 150 people, while their occupation is higher than 65%, according to the OASA it does not exceed 5.5%.
