A German prosecutor trying to bring a case against a suspect in the 2007 disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine Macan in Portugal said today that an investigation was launched into the alleged rape of a young woman in the same area in 2004.
The search for the disappearance of the girl 13 years ago now it focuses on the German Christian B.., appointed by the prosecutor in June.
Madeleine disappeared from her bedroom on May 3, 2007., during a family vacation in the Algarve and while her parents were dining with friends at the Praia da Luz resort.

According to documents obtained by Reuters from a Portuguese court, Irish nanny Hazel Bichan, 20, reported to the Portuguese police that she was raped in June 2004.
The victim woke up to an unknown man, wearing black gloves and a hood, who was standing next to her holding a knife around her neck., according to court documents. He raped her on the table and tied her up with a rope. He took pictures of her and ripped her clothes with scissors.
The victim provided the author’s description to the police and said that He spoke English but had a German, Belgian or Dutch accent.
Christian B. is imprisoned in Kiel, where he is serving a sentence for drug trafficking, but is trying to be released on parole.

At a time when the German authorities have reached a dead end over their fate Madeleine Macan, the prosecutor handling the case, Hans Christian Walters, revealed that the boy is dead.
