The extraordinary EU summit scheduled for September 24 and 25 was postponed to October 1 and 2, following a decision by Council President Charles Michel due to a case of coronavirus in a colleague.
According to Michelle’s spokesperson, Bared Leitz, the President of the European Council was informed that a security official he had contacted had been diagnosed with the new coronavirus.
Michelle, according to a post by Leits on Twitter, only yesterday had a coronavirus test, which came out negative, however, following Belgian legislation, he was quarantined from today.
It should be recalled that today, on the occasion of the Summit, the President of the Council held a teleconference with the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, and the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The focus was on Euro-Turkish relations and the situation in the eastern Mediterranean, and the Council was to draw their attention to the sanctions list against Turkey for its actions in the region.
