The Greek economy is suffering a second lockdown, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras told “Atairiastos” on SKAI TV.

According to the Finance Minister, the country’s cash currently amounts to 37.7 billion euros.
He added that it is not up to the Ministry of Finance whether or not a new blockade will take place and that the government’s choice is to listen to the experts and decide.
He stressed that in any case the economy continues and what matters is public health.
At 8% the recession in the basic scenario
Regarding the recession, the Finance Minister stressed that with current data it is around 8%, however the uncertainty is terrible and as he said it is possible that in 15 days we will hear him change his estimates.
Staikouras said that a deep recession of 8% is not an element of celebration but of realism and shows that the initial scenario that Greece would have the deepest recession in Europe is not confirmed.
ENFIA settlements on Friday – Double installment in October
According to financial staff estimates, ENFIA’s settlements will be published next Friday (09/25).
The Finance Minister stressed that the possibility is being considered of giving citizens who could not pay the September fee to pay two fees together in October, free of charge. The government plans to legislate this change immediately.
The amounts of money for ENFIA that citizens will have to pay are the same as last year, since there are no changes. He recalled that the government has permanently reduced ENFIA by 22%.
