The increase in coronavirus cases in certain areas is forcing authorities to close schools to limit the spread of the virus.

“Wave” of squatting in schools – The prosecutor intervenes
Today, Monday (09/21), more than 20 schools in central Macedonia are under occupation, a number that has doubled compared to last Friday.
Specifically, the schools of Toumpa, Michaniona, Epanomi, EPAL Stavroupoli and 1º and 3º GEL Evosmos are occupied, as well as the gyms of N. Petritsi, Lefkonas and the EPAL of Sidirokastro in Serres, while the 2nd Gymnasium is closed.
According to information from grtimes.gr, the juvenile prosecutor requests that the cases be archived and that the spontaneous procedure be initiated where available.
The Thessaloniki’s prosecutor for minors in Thessaloniki gave an order to the Police to file lawsuits for the illegal occupation of schools, according to information from grtimes.gr. Dimitra Tsiardakli demands that a spontaneous procedure be initiated and that arrests be made if adult participation is established as instigators.
The offense refers to “interruption of public service”.
The prosecutor’s order was sent to the General Directorate of Police of Thessaloniki to be notified to the local police department and the necessary actions to take.
According to a judicial source, it is not possible to detain the students because the Courts for Uninominal Minors and Three Members do not meet with the spontaneous procedure.
