Bad weather “Ianos”: Until recently the beautiful area of Assos has been razed, as the storms that hit the island of Kefalonia on Saturday, dropped tons of debris from the surrounding hills, drowning the picturesque village – In addition to the famous Myrtos beach there has been a landslide.
The utter destruction that caused Ace of Kefalonia, the Mediterranean cyclone “Ianos”, while at the same time landslides occurred on the famous and award-winning Myrtos beach.
The whole town has sink under stones and rubble that have come down from the mountains. Houses, shops have been destroyed, while between 40 and 50 cars have buried Literally.
Neighbors scream in pain and ask for the immediate intervention of the state mechanism to support them. Their fortunes have been lost in the mud and they are desperately asking for help to support themselves.

Fiskardo and Lixouri drowned
Images of destruction in Fiskardo. During the downpour, the roads of the settlement turned into torrents, dragging even cars in their driveway.
The picturesque Lixouri is also reminiscent of a bombed-out place. The passage of the cyclone left houses and shops damaged, vehicles crushed and ships sunk. The village cemetery did not escape the fury of nature either.
The Undersecretary of Civil Protection and Crisis Management was on the island on Sunday Nikos Hardals to get a closer look at the extent of the damage.
Mr. Hardalias verified the damage left by the Mediterranean cyclone “Ianos” with the helicopter and later participated in an encounter with the bodies of the island.
“It is time for very hard work and, in short, we dealt with details on issues related to the immediate restoration and return to normality of the island of Kefalonia and Ithaca,” said Mr. Hardalias at the end of the meeting.
Then he referred to the issues discussed at the meeting, where he highlighted that “details about the electrical networks, the water supply networks, the issues related to the restoration of the road networks were on the main agenda of our discussion.”
