The deadly -as it turned out- Mediterranean cyclone, which “sweeps” our country, may not have had the power that meteorologists feared, but in its passage, especially in some areas, it left enormous disasters.
The biggest blow has been received by Thessaly, who has been counting her injuries since morning, at a time when the phenomenon seems to be heading towards Crete at night. At the same time, as the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Nikos Hardalias, has underlined, the residents of Argolida, Laconia, Kythera, must take special care in the coming hours.
According to the latest official information, Janos left two dead and two missing. As for the dead man, he is a male breeder of Albanian origin, who since yesterday was looking for his son since he had disappeared due to bad weather. The unfortunate man was found dead by fire crews and his son in the area behind the Karditsa hospital.
In the early hours of Saturday another death was announced. The first death from the cyclone in our country was registered in the village of Vasili de Farsala and it is a woman who was found dead in her home, as she could not escape the fury of nature.
As for the missing woman, she is a 40-year-old woman who was dragged in her car from the Pamisos River to Mouzaki. In fact, her car was found today, Saturday. 
At the same time, an alarm has been sounded for an elderly man, who is missing in Kastanitsa, Karditsa. According to local websites, an elderly couple called the Fire Department saying their home had flooded and the roof had collapsed. The most recent information indicates that one of the two managed to escape, however, the other is still missing.
In any case, a team of Karditsa Firefighters tries to reach the place to free the two old men.

Speaking to reporters earlier, Hardalias stressed that rescuers have struggled a lot. He expressed his gratitude for the rescue of 619 people from the areas affected by the cyclone with selflessness and risk of life on the part of the members of EMAK.

With the help of EMAK men, the operation was completed to free an old man in Stavros Farsalon, who was trapped in his car in large amounts of water.
The man was trapped in the place due to the floods that hit the wider area since yesterday and was forced to climb on the hood of his vehicle to avoid being swept away by the currents of the waters.
EMAK’s men used a boat to get close to the man and finally rescue him.
Another shocking rescue was carried out by the men of the seventh Lamia EMAK. The breeder couple, aged 60 and 65, were trapped in the flooded pen, where unfortunately all their animals drowned.
They themselves had a nightmare night, since from noon on Friday until a little while before being released, they were mounted on straw balls to save themselves. As the hours passed, the water level rose and the risk of drowning was very high.
Finally, on Saturday morning, a special rough water search and rescue team from the 7th EMAK managed to approach by boat and free the breeder couple. 
The rescue of three people in the Paleokarya area of Trikala may have had a happy ending, but the people there will hardly forget the moments they lived.

The village of Prodromos in Karditsa has experienced disaster. Entire roads have turned into lakes, houses have collapsed, and residents are worried about the next day.

According to the mayor, “the flooded houses are unlimited in number, resulting in overnight efforts to free people in the specific areas.” 
For his part, the regional deputy director of the primary sector, Georgios Ladopoulos, pointed out in APE-MPE that “the phenomenon was scandalous since there were many cases of people who informed the services that they were in danger.” Among other things, Mr. Ladopoulos highlighted that operations were carried out in the Thessaly Region and the municipality with machines for the liberation of people in cooperation with EMAK in several towns west of Farsala, noting at the same time that the town that has serious problems and companies with machines is Stavros Farsalon. 
The 86-year-old man died in Farsala for a few minutes
For a few minutes it appears that the 86-year-old woman who was a victim of the deadly bad weather in the village of Vassili, a few kilometers from Farsala, lost her life last night.
The town received huge amounts of water and sediment from the Enipeas River, which overflowed to an unprecedented degree.
The town was flooded when the cyclone struck the area furiously.
According to information from onlarissa.gr, the unfortunate woman who was in her house communicated with her relatives saying that the water had begun to enter.
The Fire Brigade was immediately notified and the men of the 8th EMAK tried to approach the house by boat, since everything was flooded.
But it was already too late, as the old woman found herself unconscious …
