The new measures to limit the spread of the new coronavirus, announced by the Prime Minister, were announced this Friday afternoon by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Nikos Hardalias.

These measures will be valid from September 21 to October 4 and include:

  • Maximum 9 people to meet in open and closed spaces, except for spaces where special distance measures apply.
  • Open and closed concerts are suspended
  • Screenings in closed cinemas are suspended
  • Maximum 20 people at weddings, baptisms and funerals
  • Transfer of asymptomatic cases of vulnerable groups to quarantined hotels
  • 40% compulsory telework in the Public and Private Sector
  • Transportation in 3 waves for the arrival of employees to the Public Sector, at 7, 8 and 9 in the morning
  • Flexibility for the departure and arrival of employees to the Private Sector in 4 waves
  • Scan of controls and sanctions against employers and employees for implementing measures in private sector companies
  • EODY controls at workplaces and meetings in congested areas of Attica and at Public Sector services deemed necessary for the proper functioning of wearing a mask.

People belonging to vulnerable groups are also advised to limit their movements in the next 14 days to what is absolutely necessary.

As Hardalias said, the Attica region is between a moderate and high epidemiological risk, with a constantly increasing trend. As the Undersecretary said, this trend will intensify if immediate action is not taken. “We have to act fast, before the alarm goes red,” he said.

Analytically, according to Mr. Hardalias, the total number of active cases in the Territory is 4,084, of which 2,100 are in Attica, while of these 966 in the Municipality of Athens.
