The Lamia – Karpenisi national road in Fthiotida has turned into a river with drivers trapped in their cars, due to bad “Ianos” weather affecting the area.

It was recently announced that all its services will be suspended Athens-Thessaloniki -Athens railway line due to severe weather conditions.

Also, train 56 that operated the route Athens – Thessaloniki returns to Athens and train 58 that operated the route Thessaloniki – Athens returns to Thessaloniki.

According to TRAINOSE SA, due to the flooding before the Othrios tunnel, the railway line has been seriously damaged and is inaccessible.

At the same time, according to lamiareport, the Lamia – Karpenisi national highway has flooded near Lianokladi, causing people to be in danger.

Traffic on the Lamia – Karpenisi national road has been stopped by order of the Traffic Police, on the outskirts of Lamia, near Stavros.

At the same time, there are immobilized cars, while the situation is similar on the provincial roads in the wider Lianokladi area in the Stirfaka, Zelefto, Paliouri areas and in Loutra Ypatis.

In Lianokladi, the municipality, in cooperation with the Fire Service, is trying to free people who are in danger.

Cyclone Ianos hit the western parts of Lamia in the early afternoon on the border with the Makrakomi municipality and the Lamia – Karpenisi highway.

There are dozens of calls to the fire department to release people from their homes. Among them are citizens with mobility problems, according to lamiareport.

Residents of Stirfaka face similar problems, where streams have even swept away the fences of houses and Zelefto.

Traffic on the Lamia-Karpenisi National Highway has stopped since 2:50 pm at the junction with Loutra Ypatis, where in some places the water level has exceeded half a meter.

With the exception of fire trucks and Civil Protection trucks, the passage of any other vehicle is prohibited.
