Rampant pandemic in Attica: death toll and intubated is rising

[ad_1]

Attica (which recorded 212 of the current 359 cases) is in the vortex of the coronavirus “cyclone” and everything shows that new and more stringent measures for the basin are looming, with an increasingly likely lockdown scenario.

The declaration of the Minister of Health Vassilis Kikilias to MEGA is indicative that “things in Attica are getting worse and measures will be necessary for this.”

Arbitrary: time is running out, fines are approaching

At the same time, the “eruption” in the number of intubated workers in September causes great concern, both in the special committee on infectious diseases and in the government.

According to EODY data, on September 1, the number of patients who had been intubated was 38 and today they have reached 69.

The government, as everything shows, will not wait 15 days to make its decisions on possible new measures. After the shocking number of Attica, the blockade is closing in on us and decisions definitely come sooner.

The measures under consideration

According to MEGA political editor Giannis Christakos, the prime minister had all options on the table and decided a few days ago to implement the soft version.

However, if the rapid increase in cases in the Basin continues, it is not ruled out that we will see new measures within the week. The first of these will be a travel ban outside the prefecture.

At the same time, SMS will make a comeback, which can mainly affect older people. The third refers to the curfew from 01:00 until dawn and the greater reduction in the opening hours of restaurants, with bars and cafes that close at 22:00, with fixed control mechanisms in the squares where people are concentrated. young people.

Finally, on the table is the universal use of the mask in all spaces, as well as the suspension of all events and social gatherings.

Archmaneas: We are in difficult weeks and difficult months

“We are facing a difficult few weeks,” EODY President Panagiotis Arkoumaneas told ANT1.

“There is a greater epidemiological burden in Attica. Let’s give some time to see if the measures will work because in other areas they did work.” In the coming weeks we are expected to see a greater number of cases, but we will solve it, “he said.

“We are concerned about the situation in Attica, as in recent weeks between 60 and 65% of cases have been recorded in Attica. We must limit our contacts in our social life as much as possible.” Travel restriction is one of our options, but it is not in our immediate plans, “he concluded.

359 cases – Large increase in intubated

Previously, EODY in its daily update had announced the death of nine people from coronavirus in Greece in the previous 24 hours, as well as 359 new cases.

Thus, the total number of cases is 14,400, of which 55.6% are men, while 2,500 (17.4%) are considered related to travel from abroad and 6,070 (42.2%) are related to an already known case.

In addition, 69 of our fellow citizens are being treated by intubation. Their average age is 70 years. 21 (30.4%) are women and the rest are men. 87.0% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are 70 years of age or older. 178 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

Finally, EODY announced 9 more deaths and 325 victims in total. However, later three new deaths of elderly people were reported in Athens. The last victim, according to the information, is 63 years old, was admitted to the AHEPA ICU and finished at 9:00 p.m. due to cardiac arrest.
