Bad weather Janos reached the Ionian and since midnight the Mediterranean cyclone shows its “teeth”.
In Zakynthos, late at night, winds of up to 10 Beaufort are blowing, while it rains very hard. The entire mechanism of the island is on alert and the employees at their posts to intervene where necessary, in the adverse conditions created by the Mediterranean cyclone. Strong winds are blowing into the harbor and the sea is rough, with waves coming ashore.
Fire on a power pole
A few hours ago in the Kalamaki area, an electric pole caught fire near a hotel in the area. Firefighters, teams from the Zakynthos Regional Unit and HEDNO rushed to the scene. The fire was extinguished immediately, but more work will be needed. Due to this damage, a hotel in the area that houses tourists, as well as about 10 houses, is without electricity.

In addition, crews from the Zakynthos Regional Unit, have dug ditches in the areas of Argassi and Alykanas that were flooded. At a distance of 30 km from the center of the cyclone
At midnight, the center of the Mediterranean cyclone was about 30 km west of Kefalonia and Zakynthos and is moving slowly between them. According to Forecast Weather Greece, the winds move at a speed of almost 120 km. while the wind gusts with 150-160 km. At dawn the phenomena in the area are expected to intensify. The storm that will hit the mountains of central Greece will be strong.
The pressure in the center of the cyclone at midnight was 985-986mb and a small drop is expected in the next few hours. In the coming days, the cyclone is expected to gain its maximum power between the two islands, while according to new data it will change its course and instead of the mainland of the country, it is expected to move south.
