The situation with the fire that broke out late at night and is taking place in an agroforestry area between Kato Sychaina in Patras and in Ampelokipi is dramatic.
The fire front moved in the direction of the Sychaina settlement and the head of the Fire Brigade gave the order to evacuate at least the first houses of the settlement in the first phase.
There are also strong police forces on site that help evacuate residents’ homes and transport them to safe locations. For this reason, traffic regulations are in progress at the point.
The fire was in the direction of Ampelokipi and the meteorological forecasts are dire, as it is predicted from the 3 beauforts that now blow in the area, in the coming hours the winds will increase constantly to 4 and 5 beauforts.

The help is constantly requested and comes from the neighboring prefectures of the area and now a total force of 72 firefighters arrives, with 2 groups of pedestrians and 30 vehicles, while they are assisted by the local authorities that transport water.
Firefighters operating at the site literally battled the flames in front of the settlement in a last-ditch effort to protect it as much as possible, until morning came and they were able to send reinforcements from the air.
