Traffic on the perimeter of Patras has been stopped.
Many of the fire trucks are lined up on the perimeter with flames just below the road’s valley bridge, which is closed. The winds in the area are strong, complicating the work of the Firefighters and that is why the flames crossed the Perimeter and moved in the direction of Rio.
Citizen vehicles are not allowed in the wider area. Many vehicles have gathered near the school in the area (59) and the Police are now trying to clear the place so that the Firefighters can move.
22:00 A fire broke out shortly before 10:00 p.m. Wednesday in the wider Sychaina-Voudeni area of Patras.
The fire is above the Perimeter and near the height of the tunnel.
Strong forces of the Fire Department with 20 vehicles and the Police rushed to the scene.
As reported by thebest.gr reporter, Giannis Pomonis, from the scene of the fire, firefighters are struggling to keep it above the Perimeter.
The Police regulate traffic and prohibit the ascent of vehicles from Artemidos Street.
