Koronaios: The “explosion” of cases in Attica brings masks everywhere – The measures that are on the table

At the gates is the taking of new measures in Attica for the coronavirus, as the second wave of the pandemic “sweeps” the country and has created an increase in the number of cases in many areas, with the “champion” the capital.

According to EODY daily updates, the viral load in Attica is very high and the cases reported daily in the Basin area are consistently over 100. And on Monday Attica was again in the red with 102 cases out of 180 total.

According to information transmitted by MEGA, late Monday afternoon the meeting of the infectious diseases committee was completed, which drew up a list of proposals and delivered it to the prime minister, who will make the final decisions that will be announced on Tuesday.

The “burning” question: Masks everywhere in Attica?

The government has announced new horizontal measures for epidemiologically affected areas, such as Attica and Pella. This means that the mask measurement will be applied to all areas, open and closed.

The main question is whether these measures will affect only the municipalities with the most cases or the entire Attica region.

The busiest areas are central Athens and Piraeus, followed by the municipalities in the northern suburbs.

However, Kyriakos Mitsotakis would like to avoid the universal use of a mask, which, however, cannot be ruled out as a measure.

Moving Hours – Movement Restriction

Another proposal that has fallen on the table is mobile schedules in companies in both the public and private sectors, something that is expected to translate into the decongestion of public transport at peak times.

At the same time, it is considered safe that even less than 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors will be able to attend all kinds of social events and ceremonies, such as weddings and baptisms. Additional restrictions on artistic and cultural events are also considered.

Also, even fewer will be able to sit even as a group in restaurants and health stores. Restaurants may also close before midnight.

Finally, there will be a recommendation to restrict movement, unless there is a serious reason, in the busiest municipalities.

What Stelios Petsas said

It is recalled that in the morning the government spokesman, Stelios Petsas, revealed that the committee of specialists in infectious diseases was preparing a list of measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus in Attica.

“The combination of the outbreak of cases at the international level and the fact that we are opening schools and we will have more mobility and we will have a greater epidemiological burden in some areas, for example in Attica and Pella, makes us be vigilant and the prime minister has asked from the committee of experts to draw up a list of measures at the local or general level if necessary, “he said during the political authors’ round, referring to the increase in cases in our country.

We are ready to take any new measures that are necessary, emphasized Stelios Petsas, referring to the pandemic and explained that the coming months will be difficult.

This is evidenced by the outbreak of cases in Europe and the world, he cited and cited the examples of France, saying that since the beginning of the pandemic more than 30,910 people have lost their lives, as well as the example of Israel, where it is proceeding. with a new lock.

Kikilias had announced local measures

In fact, Mr. Petsas confirmed the Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias, who a little earlier had announced local measures at the municipal level, to limit the spread of coronavirus cases.

“Half of the cases now occur daily in Attica. Let me explain that Attica includes 5,000,000 people, it is half of Greece. Obviously we cannot think of taking such reckless horizontal measures for the entire Attica region. Epidemiologically, EODY and our scientists analyze the data and Civil Protection arrives and implements more local measures, depending on the point at which an outbreak occurs. municipal, with horizontal measures or with some specific measures, to possibly reduce a local influx or an outbreak, ”said Kikilias.
