New local measures against the coronavirus are reaching Attica and in areas with a high epidemiological burden, since the increase in cases that have been registered lately worries scientists.

Monday, The National Public Health Organization announced 180 new cases, 102 of which were registered in the Attica region., which remains “red”. According to the information, the busiest areas are considered the center of Athens and Piraeus, as well as Kifissia.

Already, as announced by the government spokesman, Stelios Petsas, the prime minister asked infectious disease specialists list of specific measures, which can be applied locally or throughout Attica.

The scientific committee, through a teleconference, met tonight and is expected to suggest to Kyriakos Mitsotakis the implementation of measures, such as that the maximum number of people per table in restaurants does not exceed four, social events such as weddings, baptisms , funerals, maximum 20 with people, as well as the closure of large concert halls. The suggestion will refer to central Athens, but probably to other areas of Attica with a high epidemiological burden, without this being clear yet.

It is not ruled out, for as many areas as deemed necessary, to propose the mandatory use of the mask in all outdoor areas, while the imposition of rolling work days is also being considered. Final decisions will be made by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and are expected to be announced tomorrow by government spokesman Stelios Petsas for implementation from next Wednesday.
