“I reported an incident of verbal and physical violence against a teacher in a school in Chania by a parent who refused to allow his children to wear a mask. I contacted the teacher and the school principal and assured them that the Ministry would do everything possible to protect the educational community from any illegal activity. I have already asked the Prosecutor’s Office to present a relevant report to the competent Prosecutor for future actions. The face of this teacher reflects all the educational potential, which is exaggerated to support our children, their families and society as a whole in this particularly difficult period. “Such actions are unthinkable and will not be tolerated.”
The incident
According to a statement from the Association of Teachers of the 2nd Baccalaureate of Eleftherios Venizelos, the incident occurred at the entrance of the school, when a student, accompanied by his father, entered the school without a mask.
The teacher who was at the school gate asked the father to put the mask on the boy, he refused and without further ado attacked the teacher, resulting in the teacher ending up in the hospital.
