A gunman shot and seriously wounded two policemen from the sheriff’s office Los Angeles County (LASD) while sitting on patrol Saturday night in a videotaped attack.
Pictures of the incident that happened in the town of Cobtin and the released sheriff’s office shows the alleged perpetrator approaching the parked vehicle on foot and shooting from the patrol copilot’s window with a revolver and then fleeing.
“The gunman approached police and opened fire without warning or provocation,” the sheriff’s office said in a Twitter post.
The police man and woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition while undergoing surgery, the tweet reported.
The perpetrator has not yet been arrested.
“At this stage we have a very, very general description of a dark-skinned man, and it came from one of the victims.”said police officer Kent Wegener at a news conference.
Images of the attack were recorded by a security camera at a nearby subway station, police said.
President Donald Trump he posted video of the attack on his account early Sunday, writing: “Animals that need to be hit hard!”

A small number of protesters gathered overnight in front of the St. Francis Medical Center in Lindwood, where police are being treated, according to a video posted on Twitter by the sheriff’s office.
“To the protesters who are blocking the entrance and exit of the hospital emergency room, shouting ‘We hope they die’ in reference to the two policemen who were ambushed today in Copton: Do not block the entrances and exits of the emergency rooms” .LASD tweeted.
He later said that they had arrested two people: a man who “refused to comply and cooperate” and a journalist from the NPR radio station, KPCC, Josie Huang.
The sheriff’s office said the reporter did not identify herself as a spokesperson, but Huang said she carried her press card all the time and yelled that she was a reporter.
“I’m a journalist,” he was quoted in a video posted on Twitter. “I’m from the KPCC,” and then yell at the police, “You’re hurting me.”
Huang said she was released from the county detention center on Sunday morning.
