Coronavirus: Concern about the spread and increase in intubated

Scientists are concerned about the steady triple-digit number of daily coronavirus cases recorded in the country for weeks in light of the opening of schools.

At the same time, in recent days the number of intubated patients has been increasing steadily, something that “proves” the resilience of the National Health System.

Speaking to the television station MEGA, the professor of infectious diseases and pathology at the University of Patras, Charalambos Gogos, referred to the schools and pointed out that the mask protects to a great extent if it is used properly by everyone.

“With the data that exist, the protective action of the mask that is seen when everyone uses it in a certain area, there is a lot of protection to the extent that it can reach 95%”, he emphasized.

At the same time, he said that there must be distance but that all safety rules must be observed, except the mask, to minimize the transmission of the virus.

Regarding the universal use of the mask, Mr. Gogos stressed that it is an easy measure in the event of a large outbreak of cases, however current epidemiological data in the country do not point in that direction.

It should be noted that on Sunday the National Public Health Organization also announced 207 new cases of coronavirus in the country. Of these, 23 are associated with known outbreaks and 29 were identified after checks at the country’s gateways, while the total number of cases is 13,240.

At the same time, 54 patients are treated by intubation with a median age of 70 years. Finally, we have three more deaths registered and 305 deaths in total in the country.
