The absolute alalum prevailed earlier regarding the “freeze” of first home auctions for vulnerable borrowers.
For several hours no one knew if the initial announcement by the Hellenic Banking Association for the “freeze” of the auctions of the first home of vulnerable borrowers announced on Friday morning was finally valid.
Some websites leaked that the initial announcement of EET should have been ignored on the grounds that it was made public … without realizing it!
However, after repeated announcements and phone calls, suspension of auctions to vulnerable first home borrowers is validas noted in information from the Hellenic Banking Association, after EET forwarded the initial statement announcing the suspension of first home auctions for vulnerable borrowers.
According to information from banking circles, the alalum was caused due to Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s wish to announce the suspension himself at TIF on Saturday. However, as it seems, EET caught up with him, resulting in a … disaster.
EET’s Final Announcement
“Banks are temporarily suspending first home auctions for vulnerable borrowers. EET member banks, in line with their commitment to supporting the Greek economy amid COVID 19, have carried out extensive extensions to the period until the end of 2020. liabilities for a significant number of borrowers.
At the same time, banks support the inclusion of borrowers, who have given their first home as collateral for their loan agreement, in the BRIDGE program of law 4714/2020 and encourage beneficiaries to submit the corresponding application.
In this context, the banks also announce that they will consider a request to suspend auctions relating to the first home, until 12.31.2020, for those borrowers who belong to the vulnerable category, as defined in ΥΑ Δ13οικ 10747 / 256/2019 (especially Article 4 thereof).
A condition for the above suspension is the presentation of a relevant request by the vulnerable borrower to the bank and the declaration of lifting of bank secrecy, in order to establish that it belongs to the vulnerable category.
When the criteria to designate the borrower as vulnerable are not met, the auction procedures will proceed normally. “
