Today the alarm bells sounded again in both the scientific community and the government of the country, after the outbreak of the cases, which demonstrated in the best way what scientists have been shouting for so long: that the pandemic is unpredictable and it can “explode” at any time. ».
This is because while from the last Saturday to Tuesday, that is, for four consecutive days, the cases were below 200, with Gika Majorkinis -during Tuesday’s briefing- speaking of positive elements, referring to the reduction cases, even per day, yesterday there was a new increase, again exceeding 200, while today there was a negative record that reached … 400.
Today’s report of 372 new cases of the deadly virus in our country, showed how easily the situation can be derailed, if there are 2-3 outbreaks, as happened for example in Giannitsa. But it is not just about Giannitsa, since according to EODY, another 29 cases are related to the recycling industry in Attica and 21 come from various known confluences from previous days.
However, it is not only that, as Attica is constantly in the “red” with the highest percentage of daily cases daily and causing headaches for scientists.
This is the reason why on Friday morning, in the meeting that the prime minister will have with specialists in infectious diseases, it is expected that the new, extraordinary, measures to face and prevent a further spread of the coronavirus will be judged.

The focus is mainly on whether the universal use of the mask will finally be decided. That is, that all citizens wear a mask, not only indoors but also on the street, even for a short walk.
It is not excluded, and in fact it can be very close, we all move even in open spaces with masks.
The particularly harsh measure, which is sure to provoke reactions, may not be applied throughout Greece, but in areas where the pandemic hits the red.
One of these areas is Attica, where in recent days there has been an increase in cases and an increase in the number of intubated patients in the intensive care unit. But also in areas such as Kilkis, Pieria, Imathia and Pella that were declared under special restrictive measures due to coronavirus.
According to information from in.gr, scientists have clearly suggested to the government the mandatory use of the mask for some time to limit the spread of the virus.
The final decision will be made by the Prime Minister after weighing a number of factors, and the most important, of course, is how this measure could be implemented without causing a storm of reactions.
It is recalled that on Tuesday in.gr had revealed the measures that have fallen on the table in case the situation disappears.
One of them is the universal use of the mask everywhere, but also the change in the opening hours of stores so that they open and close differently to decongest Public Transport.
In 114 boxes from the Giannitsa factory
As EODY announced, of the 372 confirmed cases today, approximately half are from three large conglomerates in the country.
According to information so far, 114 cases are related to the outbreak of over-transmission at the Giannitsa cannery.
In addition to the Giannitsa overload outbreak, 29 more are connected by a known influx to a recycling industry in Attica and 21 come from various known influxes from previous days. In fact, the 114 new cases of this industrial unit are distributed in four regional units where the employees come from.
Tracking continues
It is worth noting that the case investigation and contact tracing process continues at a steady pace, but also with ominous estimates for the final number of cases from this outbreak and for the transmission cycles that have already opened. It is indicative that from last Tuesday until today, when the specific confluence was announced, 160 cases have been identified.
In fact, it takes place in a large geographical area, in four regional units, in Pella, Imathia, Pieria, Kilkis.
This is the reason why emergency measures were announced in these four regional units, while by order of the Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias, the hospitals of the prefectures were put in a state of greater availability. Previously, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Health, with the participation of the Secretary General. Of Public Health Panagiotis Prezerakou, of the Secretary General of Health Services Giannis Kotsiopoulos and Professor Sotiris Tsiodras, where the epidemiological data that have been formed in the area, after the well-known series of cases, were analyzed.

On Thursday night, GGP announced that due to a high confirmed epidemiological burden (114 cases) and after the corresponding controls, by order of the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias, its operation is suspended in its entirety. company, including and its facilities, for urgent reasons of serious risk to public health and in particular to limit the spread and effects of the COVID-19 disease.
The above suspension is valid for 7 days from 09/11/2020 and from 06:00 to 09/18/2020 at 06:00.
Extraordinary measures
At the same time, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection announced extraordinary restrictive measures in the aforementioned areas, in order to prevent a further spread of the coronavirus in our country.
According to a GGP announcement, the areas are subject to special restrictive measures.
Specifically, the operation of all health warehouses is prohibited from 12 at night until 07:00 the next day.
Likewise, suspension of any type of event such as parties, fairs, processions, public markets, etc., prohibition of any type of gathering of citizens over 9 people for any reason, both in public and in private.
It is also noted that in the dining areas a maximum number of people at each table is allowed up to 4 people, unless they are first-degree relatives where up to 6 people are allowed.
Wearing a mask is mandatory both indoors and outdoors.
These measures are valid for 14 days: from Friday 09/11/2020 at 06:00 until Friday 09/25/2020 at 06:00. 
The situation in Greece
