On Friday morning, in the meeting that the prime minister will have with specialists in infectious diseases, the new and extraordinary measures for the treatment of the coronavirus will be judged.
After the explosion of cases, with a negative record of 372 in 24 hours, everything now leads to the negative scenario.
The focus is mainly on whether the universal use of the mask will finally be decided. That is, that all citizens wear a mask, not only indoors but also on the street, even for a short walk.
It is not excluded, and in fact it can be very close, we all move even in open spaces with masks.
The particularly harsh measure, which is sure to provoke reactions, may not be applied throughout Greece, but in areas where the pandemic hits the red.
One of these areas is Attica, where in recent days there has been an increase in cases and an increase in the number of intubated patients in the intensive care unit. But also in areas such as Kilkis, Pieria, Imathia and Pella that were declared under special restrictive measures due to coronavirus.
According to information from in.gr, scientists have clearly suggested to the government the mandatory use of the mask for some time to limit the spread of the virus.
The final decision will be made by the Prime Minister after weighing a number of factors, and the most important, of course, is how this measure could be implemented without causing a storm of reactions.
It is recalled that on Tuesday in.gr had revealed the measures that have fallen on the table in case the situation disappears.
One of them is the universal use of the mask everywhere, but also the change in the opening hours of stores so that they open and close differently to decongest Public Transport.
Information from in.gr indicates that stores that open at 9:00 a.m. could open at 10 a.m., while, respectively, an hour later the shopping centers will now open at 10 a.m.
Likewise, the measure of closing restaurants at 12 at night seems to remain unchanged.
Reflection
The fact that cases are steadily hovering in the triple digits continues to worry experts as time goes on and we move into fall and winter weather, the more difficult the situation will become.
What has also alarmed scientists is the increase in intubation. Already 49 human beings are fighting in the intensive care unit.
Especially in Attica, the situation remains extremely difficult, with one more day of cases reaching 100. The areas that present a high epidemiological burden, despite the relative decrease, are the southern and northern suburbs.
In this context, the government is considering new measures. According to information from in.gr, infectious disease specialists at Monday’s meeting under the Prime Minister proposed stricter measures to limit the spread of the deadly virus.
