The novelties introduced by the new bill of the “Digital Governance Code”, said the competent minister, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, in an interview with APE – MPE.

One of the novelties is the digital signature for each Greek citizen, which will be introduced with the new identifications that will begin to be issued in less than two years.

“What we need is a clear legal framework that establishes when we use the digital signature, how it works. It is very important to know the context of when the digital signature is valid and what are the rules that govern it ”, emphasized Mr. Pierrakakis.

After all, the TIN will not be the personal number

For the Personal Number (PA), which will be written in the new ID, the Minister of Digital Government explained that it will have 12 digits, of which 9 will be the current CIF and the rest will include letters.

“In the end, it will not be the VAT number, but it will be the VAT number (Tax Registration Number) plus three numerical digits that will be added at the beginning, it will be advanced”, emphasizes Mr. Pierrakakis.

The development of 5G frequencies

The minister called the bill’s provisions for 5G a major intervention, saying it “is the most outgoing of what we do” referring to the establishment of the Phaistos fund.

He explained that the big gap in the 5G debate is not the auction of frequencies but the development of the relevant ecosystem, “that is, having enough companies that use these frequencies and provide great services to the world.”

Mr. Pierrakakis stressed that the State reserves some frequencies that it does not auction and that it grants for research purposes or grants for the development of the enterprise “and there is a second part, which is that the State comes and intervenes by creating a specialized fund, the first in the world to invest only in the development of 5G frequencies “

Fiber optic for the home

Regarding Fiber to the Home, the bill establishes that for the development of fiber optic networks to the home and for low noise areas, the current framework of gas networks will be applied, in order to speed up the licensing process (Simple notification will be necessary) by the municipalities.

“We are simplifying the fiber optic process. In the so-called low noise projects, the same will apply to natural gas, so the permit will no longer be necessary, just a notification, a report to the corresponding municipality, and therefore We believe that the process will be accelerated, since it was observed that a citizen was needed to run fiber optics at home for about 3.5 months, if there is coverage in the area ”.

What will happen to areas outside television coverage?

Finally, based on the key articles referring to issues related to areas outside television coverage, the minister highlighted in the APE-MPE “in the ‘white areas’ of television we add new areas to reach almost complete coverage and we assure that the coverage will now be valid for 8 years with warranty “.
