Cooperation between Greece and France on multiple levels, at a time when Tayyip Erdogan intensifies his threats to Greece on a daily basis, will be sealed today in Corsica by Kyriakos Mitsotakis with Emanuel Macron in the context of the Euro-Mediterranean Summit.
At the same time, the Greek prime minister, in an article published simultaneously in The Times, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Le Monde, sent a clear message to Tayyip Erdogan that if Turkey did not cooperate, it would face severe financial sanctions.
Diplomatic sources in Athens point out that Emanuel Macron has expressed clear support for Greece in the face of the Turkish challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Armaments
The issue of reinforcing the Greek Armed Forces is expected to be on the agenda of the talks with the French side, the most likely possibility being the acquisition of Rafale fighter jets. Based on information that has come to light in recent days, it is possible that the discussion includes reinforcing the Navy with new frigates, in the form of loans.
In any case, the prime minister is expected to announce the full weapons program next weekend from Thessaloniki.
The leaders of Spain, Italy, Portugal, Cyprus and Malta will also be present at the MED 7 conference in Corsica.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis will leave for the French island at noon and his program, as announced by the Maximos Palace, is as follows:
-15: 00 (local time) Meeting with representatives of the Cargese Greek Community of Corsica
– 16:00 Meeting with the President of the French Republic Emanuel Macron
