Shocking images that are an embarrassment to a European country were recorded by SKAI’s camera in Moria, where thousands of people slept in the streets after the complete destruction of the structure by fires.
Along the road from Moria to the ring road and to the blockade imposed by the police, there are refugees and immigrants, most of them women and children sleeping on the road.
The incident described by SKAI journalist Dimitris Panopoulos is shocking, with a young mother trying to calm her crying baby by singing next to the police cage.
The situation is serious, as there is no water or food supply for the population and a tent camp has not been set up. And all this in the middle of a coronavirus pandemic and with confirmed cases in Moria.
A ship is expected to arrive in the next few hours to accommodate vulnerable groups and children. The ship will arrive in the Sigri area, which is 100 km from Moria, on the other side of Lesbos, and those who decide to stay there will be transported by bus.
It is worth noting, however, that the vast majority of immigrants and refugees believe that the end of Moria marks a new beginning for them and they hope to be able to move to another European country, which is not going to happen.
On Wednesday night there were incidents in which a large group of people tried to move towards the center of the city and were arrested by police forces.
