Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to ask French President Emanuel Macron for practical support from Paris, who is seeking a “French key” that can “solve” key issues in Greek foreign policy.
The main objective of Athens is the final talks that have to do with the defense of the country, amid the pressure exerted by Turkey in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean.
The French president appears as a “fervent” supporter of respect for the sovereign rights of our country and of the observance of International Law in general in the broad region of the Eastern Mediterranean.
The Greek government hopes that with this visit by the Prime Minister to Corsica and his participation in the Euro-Mediterranean Conference (MED7), strong responses will be given to those who undertake illegal actions and that European solidarity will be transformed into tangible acts.
The Prime Minister’s Program:
- 15:00 (local time) Meeting with representatives of the Cargese Greek Community of Corsica
- 16:00 Meeting of the Prime Minister with the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron
- 17:30 Participation of the Prime Minister in the Plenary Session of the Mediterranean Conference held under the presidency of Mr. Macron

Armaments
The question of strengthening the Air Force’s capabilities, with the possibility of acquiring Rafale fighter jets, is expected to be on the table with the French side, as “K” has written.
At the same time, there will be talks to strengthen the Navy with new frigates, since a large number are old and do not “lift” any improvements. In this context, it is expected that the issue of the Belharra frigates will be raised, for which talks have been held between the two governments, but so far no final agreement has been reached.
According to the information, the prime minister will announce the full weapons program next weekend from Thessaloniki.
