Silvio Berlusconi described the coronavirus as “a real hell” in a message from the hospital in Milan, where he has been hospitalized for five days.

“I am fighting to overcome this disease, which is a true hell, it is terribly ugly. Of the thousands of patients examined in San Rafaele, I am the fifth in terms of viral load. “I did my best and I really hope I can improve,” said the 84-year-old, speaking to senators from his party, Forza Italia.

Berlusconi told them that he wanted to participate in the last week of the campaign for the regional elections of September 20 because he feared abstention and because “this incompetent government must be defeated.”

He closed his message with a reference to Plato, saying that “the vote is a moral obligation, as the great Greek philosopher had said to the Athenians, because whoever chooses to abstain deserves an incompetent government.”

Apart from Silvio Berlusconi, the tests of three of his children were also positive for the coronavirus. After Barbara, 36, and Luigi, 31, Marina Berlusconi, 54, also tested positive for the virus, according to Ansa.
