Coronavirus cases have risen to 42 so far at a cannery in Giannitsa, which employs 680 people. Most of them are seasonal workers living in nearby areas outside of Pella prefecture, such as Imathia, Thessaloniki and Pieria.
Initially, 13 cases were identified among 30 employees, who commute to and from Giannitsa from Goumenissa and Kilkis, where they live, by bus on a daily basis. Other cases were detected during follow-up.
According to the information so far, the number of workers positive for the coronavirus is 42, and this number is expected to increase. All patients are under house arrest.
The employees were transferred to hospitals in northern Greece, while the follow-up procedure is followed, according to the protocol established by EODY.
It is assumed, of course, that the cases will increase.
