Convinced of the guilt of the two Bulgarian defendants in the case of the murder of businessman Giannis Makris, two years ago, the prosecutor of the headquarters appeared in his speech before the Mixed Court of Juries in Athens.
For one of them, the 32-year-old defendant, the prosecutor expressed his belief that he was the executor, as evidenced by the video that has seen the light of the publicity of the cold murder of the businessman, in October 2018, abroad from his house, in Panorama de Voula. As for his 36-year-old brother, who is also accused, the prosecutor suggested that he be convicted of simple complicity in intentional homicide.
According to the prosecutor, the two brothers arrived in Greece 20 days before the crime, on October 12, 2018, and stayed in four hotels, while they had rented four cars for their trips. As the prosecutor characteristically clarified, their assertion that they came to our country for vacations but also to be professionally active is not valid.
“They live luxuriously for 20 days in the Voula-Glyfada area, which is not cheap. Those of us who live here cannot. It did not turn out that they met with a businessman, they said they visited a rental property to build a dining room.
They said they had enough money from the compensation his mother received for the car accident in Canada. If you have so much money, you come to Greece for a month on vacation and you still live in Bulgaria. And you go somewhere in the north. In Halkidiki, for example, “said the prosecutor, who pointed out that the first hotel was near Giannis Makris’s house, evidence that he was being watched.
“Without a doubt, the first defendant is the perpetrator of the murder. I’m not saying that, the video of the murder says so. The video shows the profile in shape, the physique, the braid, ”said the prosecutor, adding that not everything can be a coincidence.
According to the prosecutor, the phone call to his brother a few seconds after the murder is also aggravating for the first accused.
Regarding his sudden departure from Greece since, as he said in his apology, his son became ill, the prosecutor commented: “Your son has been born. Do you get up, go and come to Greece, claiming that you want to rent a canteen and, when your child is sick, do you not take the car as soon as you rent it to go to Promachonas and run back to Bulgaria? “Instead, are you waiting to go to the airport and you have in mind to wash before the car?”
As for the second defendant, the prosecutor said that he had made the plan with his brother and they were observing the victim together. “In my opinion, his actions are the definition of a simple accessory to an intentional homicide,” he said.
At the end of his speech, the prosecutor stated that he did not know the motives for the murder and added that it did not matter.
“Judicial officials are examining the evidence.” I don’t know why they killed him, God and his soul, “he stressed.
