According to information cited by SKAI, there is a program that includes, among other things, the “sealing” of Evros and the reinforcement with attack teams of the Greek-Turkish border.
Specifically, two EKAM “type” groups of 30 people each will scan Evros in order to locate and dismantle slave traders’ circuits and prevent refugee flows and migration.
The staffing, according to the same sources, will be made after the selection of the newly hired border guards.
These groups will conduct land and river patrols along a great length of the river and will be based in Orestiada and Alexandroupolis, respectively.
At the same time, the 400 newly hired border guards left the Didymoteicho and Komotini police schools, and since last Monday, 265 in Orestiada and 135 in Alexandroupolis, who have passed their internship, while they are expected to retire in mid-October. .
In the last two weeks, moreover, there has been an increase of around 20% in refugee / migration flows from various parts of the river.
Corresponding movements are expected on the islands, from the Greek side. This is a reinforcement of the police forces on 7 islands, with 530 border guards recently recruited.
Of the new border guards, 240 will go to Mytilene, 100 to Kos, 98 Chios, 40 Leros, 30 Samos, 20 Symi, 12 Kastelorizo, as broadcast by SKAI television station.
At the same time, the hiring of 746 new border guards is expected, of which 480 will be distributed in five Pre-Departure Detention Centers and 266 will strengthen the islands.
