1,695 cases in 24 hours
According to official data from the Italian authorities, in the last 24 hours, 1,695 new cases of coronavirus were registered and 16 people lost their lives. Yesterday, 1,733 people tested positive for the virus and the death toll was 11.
121 patients have been admitted to intensive care units, while 29,453 people are under house arrest and 1,620 in hospital.
In a total of twenty-one regions, only in two (in Molise and Valle d’Aosta) there are no new cases today.
In Rome, meanwhile, far-right groups have recently launched a campaign to question the existence of the coronavirus. The mobilization also has the support of organizations of taxi drivers and restaurant owners, who accuse the government of mistreatment during the pandemic.
“No to the masks” and “we want the truth” are two of the slogans of the mobilization.
Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, during a visit to Baja Italia, asked those who question the existence of Covid-19 “to show at least respect for the families of the victims of the coronavirus.”
