Russia on Saturday took a position to extend the Greek coastal zone to 12 nautical miles.
Several days after Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s announcements in Parliament for the expansion of the sunrise zone from 6 to 12 miles in the Ionian, Russia, through the representative of the Russian Foreign Minister Maria Zakharova highlighted, among other things: “Russia signed the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and its position is based on the international legal standards contained in this document. The leadership of the Hellenic Republic is well aware of Russia’s views on this issue. In the case of situations where Russian interests are directly affected, we will treat each individual case according to its value. However, so far we don’t see any reason for this. “
