Coronavirus cases in our country exceeded 11,000, according to the latest EODY update, on Friday afternoon.

At the same time, the professor of Infectious Diseases Charalambos Gogos, during the information session of the Ministry of Health on Friday, stressed that it is important to limit the spread before the winter period “which can generate greater problems.”

As announced by EODY, the total number of cases is now 11,200, of which 55.7% are men.

Gogos initially referred to the 202 new coronavirus cases on Friday, while at the same time noting that 19.5% of coronavirus cases in our country, which today reached 11,200, are related to trips from abroad, while 43.8% are related to an already known case and the rest are still under investigation.

“Let’s limit the dispersal now, because the fall, winter season is approaching, which can create bigger problems.”

“If you ask me what my situation is, I could describe the situation as critical. Critical, not for health, I would say that it is simply unpleasant because we have several cases, the number of intubations increases a little, but the health system is in a hurry. perfect position to deal with them. “There is a relative increase, but not to the extent that we can classify it as critical,” Mr. Gogos initially stressed.

“But it is crucial for the period in which this occurs and I think it is the right time to put what we have inside and what possibilities we have to limit this dispersion in this phase, because the well-known autumn and winter season is approaching, which it can generate bigger problems ”, continued the professor, emphasizing that it is the right moment to reduce all this problem.

Limiting the Spread of Coronavirus in the Community

According to Mr. Gogos, this will be done with due surveillance and registration of the cases and with the appropriate evidence, “you can see how much it has increased lately,” he emphasized.

“We have reached 14,000 to 17,000 daily tests, which help a lot in the search for cases, timely treatment and adequate hospitalization, which is now highly organized with adequate algorithms, we have the appropriate treatment measures, they have greatly improved therapeutic measures and this confers a comfort in the handling of these patients. And, of course, good follow-up of the contacts so that they are limited and thus reduce their dispersion ”, continued the professor.

At the same time, “we must protect the sterile health system from the virus, we must take care of hospitals” and “we need correct, continuous and directed information to the world on protection measures”.

“We need vaccines for the winter. This is a difficult time, it is the flu, it is the rest of the viruses, so we must take that into account. However, I have a feeling of optimism that, by taking measures for the coronavirus, we will also prevent the spread of other viral infections, including influenza, to a better degree than in previous years, “he concluded.
