Tania married Georgilakis in part to escape their oppressive family environment and moved with them to the United States, where they soon had their first child.
But as Tanya enjoyed her newfound freedom in the United States, her husband became increasingly radical. In 2006, he was accused of hacking into the website of a pro-Israeli group and sentenced to three years in prison.
She still hadn’t realized that she was in a toxic marriage, so she hasn’t made the decision to divorce him yet.
After John Georges was released from prison on parole, he took his wife and three children first to Egypt and then to Istanbul.
She wanted to go to Syria, but Tanya didn’t want her children to live in a war zone.

Although pressured by his friends to divorce her, John eventually showed mercy and sent Tanya and her children back to the United States. The return of course was not easy since he organized illegally with a trafficker and had many adversities.

Who was Ioannis Georgilakis?
Ioannis Georgilakis, also known as John Georgellas, was an American citizen of Greek descent. Born in 1983 in Texas, United States.
The son of a conservative family of Greeks with roots in Crete, John Georgellas had been brought up with military discipline. Timothy’s father was a physician and graduated from the prestigious West Point Military Academy in the United States. The young man grew up with the teachings of Christianity deeply ingrained in him.

When his wife left him, Georgilakis remained in Syria and fought at the front.

The jihadists considered him an excellent theologian and an excellent student of the Koran, Islamic Sharia law, classical Arabic language and literature.
He had a close relationship with the former representative of the Islamic State organization, Abu Mohammed Al Adnani, who was killed on August 30, 2016 by a US air strike.
He later became associated with the self-proclaimed Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
On December 5, 2016, the Islamic State announced that its new official representative and in fact second in the hierarchy of the Islamic State, was assumed by Abu Al Hassan Hassan Al Muhajir, that is, Ioannis Georgilakis.
Mystery with his death
After the assassination of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi last year, Washington announced that the representative of the jihadists, Abu Hassan al-Muhajir, had been assassinated.
However, there is a rumor that Georgilakis never became Abu al-Hassan al-Muhajir and was assassinated in 2017, at the age of 33, while fighting the Syrian army in the eastern Syrian desert in the province. of Deir al-Zour.
