The Greek government’s categorical denial of the resumption of the Greek-Turkish dialogue (it said that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was quick to make public) provoked the anger of Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu.
The Turkish Foreign Minister stated that “Athens is lying about NATO mediation” and that “it really does not want dialogue.”
He reiterated that his Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias, rejected a proposal for “unconditional” dialogue on tensions in the eastern Mediterranean.
“That Greece does not wait for us to give up our rights. They offer them dialogue and continue to refuse. There have been initiatives from both the EU and NATO. We say yes, no, although they initially accepted,” he said.
France to apologize
Tsavousoglou also attacked France, even demanding an apology from Turkey. “Our advice to France is that hysterical behavior has never helped anyone. France is becoming ridiculous and provoking us,” said the Turkish diplomat with obvious arrogance.
