SYRIZA took a position on the events of the last hours, asking the government for explanations about the “material” that has been created with NATO and the government leaks.
On Thursday afternoon, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Greece and Turkey agreed to start technical talks to reduce tensions in the eastern Mediterranean.
Later, diplomatic sources in Athens refuted the so-called Stoltenberg, emphasizing, among other things, that: “The de-escalation is just the immediate withdrawal of all Turkish ships from the Greek mainland.”
In a statement, SYRIZA points out that for the second time the Greek people are learning through third parties about dialogue initiatives with Turkey, emphasizing that the government must “clear up the mess we are observing and harm the interests of the country.”

For the second time lately, the Greek people are learning from third parties about dialogue initiatives with Turkey in which Greece participates. Furthermore, it monitors the country’s international exposure, refuting the NATO Secretary General with government leaks.
The Government must, first of all, take itself seriously and clarify the stagnation that we are seeing and that is damaging the interests of the country.
Second, to clarify whether the mediation of the NATO Secretary General is part of a national strategy or at least why and in what terms he accepted it. At a time when we all know the tolerance that NATO has shown to Turkish aggression and while the Turkish research vessel OrucReis systematically violates our sovereign rights south of Kastelorizo and Rhodes.
But above all, the government must finally explain to us how the national consensus can be formed, which is then invoked, when the opposition is later informed by third parties.
