The intention is to reach a defense agreement between Greece and France on September 10 in Paris and then the two leaders Mitsotakis – Macron to go to Corsica for the Euro-Mediterranean summit.
However, government sources said that anyone in a hurry stumbles and so they want to be careful and stay there until they have the signature with Paris.
The next diplomatic stations
In the next period there are a number of diplomatic moves from Athens.
Beginning with Mr. Dendias’ visit to the United Nations in New York on September 4, where he will meet with the UN Secretary General to discuss the Turkish provocation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Then on September 10 is the Euro-Mediterranean Summit in Corsica.
September 12 is the end of the Turkish Navtex, which is very important as it remains to be seen if there will be a new Navtex and if it will be closer to Kastelorizo as Turkey is currently doing.
From 12 to 13 September, Mr. Mitsotakis will be at the TIF in Thessaloniki, where it remains to be seen if there will be a message from the Prime Minister or if something has happened to ease the tension.
We end from September 24 to 25, which are critical dates, since if we do not have a de-escalation we will have sanctions and it remains to be seen what Turkey’s reaction will be.
