The Turkish president was once again ruthless and highly provocative, having another communication with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday afternoon about the continuing tension in the Eastern Mediterranean, where gunpowder has been “smelling” for 5 weeks.
At the center of the new telephone communication between them was the continuing tension in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean.
The “sultan” appeared once again uncompromising and, according to Turkish media, “gestured with his finger” at the German chancellor and … accused her that supports Greece and Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean.
Specifically, as Sabah reported, Erdogan characteristically said that “it is unacceptable for some countries to support the selfish and unfair behavior of Greece.”
The tension in the Eastern Mediterranean is in the red: the Turks brought the Russians for the exercises
The balances in the Eastern Mediterranean hang in the balance after the challenges from Turkey, the NAVTEX attacks, the responses from Greece and finally the live-fire exercises by the Russians with the permission of the Turks.
Two new naval instructions for real-world fire drills in the eastern Mediterranean relate to Russian military exercises at two different locations, called “Russian fire drills.” Ankara shuffles the deck.
In essence, with NAVTEX, Ankara is informing the research ships Barbaros and Oruc Reis sailing in the areas where the Russian exercises will take place, as also indicated in the relevant information.
Now it is obvious that the eastern Mediterranean is on fire. Currently in the area there is an overconcentration of forces and specifically of the fleets: Greece, Turkey, France, United States, Russia. In cyprus there’s also British bases, While Israel and Egypt are closely following developments and we are prepared for any eventuality.
The first Russian exercise will take place between September 8 and 22 and it involves live-fire exercises near the Oruc Reis research, on the edge of the Greek continental shelf, southeast of Kastelorizo.
The second NAVTEX between September 17 and 25refers to the Russian exercises in the maritime zone of the Cypriot EEZ.
In NAVTEX, in fact, the Turks point out that care must be taken not to affect their research vessels Barbaros and Orus Reis sailing near the Russian exercise areas.
