An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale occurred at 6:07 p.m. Thursday in Attica, which was particularly felt throughout the capital.

According to the Institute of Geodynamics, the focal depth was 6.8 km, while the epicenter of the earthquake is located 17 kilometers northeast of Rafina

The vibration, although short-lived, was quite intense, with no reports of damage in areas of East Attica, where the epicenter is located.

The President of the OASP, Mr. Efthymios Lekkas, speaking at Newsbomb.gr it seemed reassuring, and stressed that there is no risk of a major earthquake. As he said, some smaller aftershocks can follow during the day.

According to Mr. Lekkas, the earthquake came from the Marathon fault, that is known and has not produced major earthquakes in the past. Finally, he emphasized that he particularly felt, as occurred near a residential settlement and due to the small focal depth.

4.3 magnitude earthquake: see the epicenter

According to the Geodynamic Institute records, followed by two small replicas, measuring 1.6 on the Richter scale. The first occurred at 18:20 at 13 km NW of Rafina with a focal depth of 5.2 km and the second at 3 km NW of Rafina with a focal depth of 5 km.

The Euro-Mediterranean Institute reported that the vibration had an intensity of 4.3 on the Richter scale, 32 kilometers northeast of Athens, while the focal depth was 7 kilometers.
