In other words, tenants will benefit from the rent reduction and owners will receive a tax deduction equal to 30% of the rent they lose.
In essence, the government is considering POMIDA’s proposal to redefine rents after individual landlord-tenant agreements, with free market rules, and to cover part of the landlord’s loss in the form of offset tax deductions. Specifically, POMIDA has proposed together with the Chamber of Commerce of Athens, “to end the mandatory reductions permanently and legislate a refund of 30% to those owners who agree to make voluntary reductions up to -40% and until 12.31.2020 , so that from 1.1.2021 we hope that the situation has improved, that normal income will be applied ”.
