The former Minister of Transport and Public Order died at the age of 90.
The New Democracy and the political world are mourning the passing of former Minister Nikos Gelestathis at the age of 90.
He was born in 1930 in Desfina, Fokida. He studied law at the University of Athens and is the brother of Deputy Fokida Athanasios Gelestathis, whom he succeeded in the 1981 elections.
He was elected Member of Parliament for Fokida with New Democracy in 1981, 1985, 1989 (June and November), 1990, 1993, 1996 and 2000.
He served as Minister of Transport and Communications (1990-1992) and Minister of Public Order (1992-1993) in the Mitsotakis government.
