In particular, it was extended to September 30th.
Mr. Theodorikakos, speaking with SKAI, emphasized that citizens have the Last chance to fix this delay.
According to the minister, so far there have been 1,650,000 applications and the so-called “forgotten” squares that are arranged have more than 35 million square meters.
“These citizens have escaped hundreds of millions of euros in fines and fees during the last 5 years. “The state and local government will now receive about 80 million euros more every year,” said Mr. Theodorikakos as well.
The announcement of the Ministry of the Interior
Great success of the arrangement for undeclared square meters. – It is extended until September 30
The following are announced by the Ministry of the Interior:
As is known, the Ministry of the Interior 8 months ago gave the opportunity to all citizens to finally resolve a significant issue they have towards the Municipalities and the state in general: Many houses with less square meters are declared to the Municipalities than in E9.
This measure, which due to coronavirus took two extensions, March and June, was welcomed by society and so far 1,650,000 citizens have corrected the sq.m. in its properties. In this way 35 million square meters have appeared. Citizens have thus been spared fines of hundreds of millions of euros.
The local government and the state earn many tens of millions of euros each year, additional income that was not badly collected in previous years.
The flow of statements in recent days shows that the magnitude of the problem is ultimately enormous and the undeclared squares were not the exception, but the rule of the majority. Our goal is for everyone to use this measure and put an end to a long-standing problem.
It is also a fact that the state of emergency that we have been in for many months, due to the coronavirus pandemic, has made it difficult for many citizens, especially the elderly and those who are not familiar with the internet, to complete these statements.
There is also confusion due to inaccuracies that have been reported in the public debate in relation to other ongoing processes, such as the declaration of arbitrariness.
These are the reasons why the Ministry of the Interior announces a definitive extension until 9/30. So that there is no longer an excuse and everyone fulfills this obligation. And all together to turn a debt relationship into a relationship of trust. The State respects citizens and citizens respect the State.
