According to information the sailboat with them approximately 80 immigrants (probably of Kurdish or Turkish origin) remained ungovernable, in the early afternoon, off the Strofades Islands whenever it was deemed necessary for the Coast Guard to intervene with ships from Katakolo and Zakynthos.
According to other sources, the boat was searched by the port authorities for several hours, after the relevant information they had. The two-member crew insisted until yesterday afternoon on their claim that they are also immigrants. After the trailer, the necessary tests (for the coronavirus) will be carried out and all the procedures will be provided. On the part of the Municipality, there was interest in immigrants regarding their distribution and food.
The Municipality is willing to pay not only the food costs of the essential items necessary for the accommodation of the immigrants during the night, but also the transportation costs. To do this, it is awaiting instructions from the port authority, while the head of the Coast Guard, the president of EODY and the regional governor of Oeste have already been informed. From Greece.
Finally, it is estimated that all immigrants will be transferred to Patras where the corresponding examinations will be carried out and their final transfer will be decided.
