With new Navtex Ankara announces that aeronautical exercises will be held in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Navtex is a real life exercise, north of Cyprus, between the Occupied Territories and Turkey, in an area north of the Gulf of Morphou to Kyrenia (see map). Its validity begins today, August 29 and expires September 11. The exercises will be carried out from 7:00 in the morning until 16:00 in the afternoon.

One day earlier, Thursday morning, Turkey had announced two more Navtex, with which it commits two areas of the Eastern Mediterranean for September 1 and 2, where it will also carry out exercises with live fire. These are two areas in the gulfs of Mersin and Alexandretta respectively, quite far from the seismic field of Oruc Reis, but in front of Cyprus (see map).
As Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said in an interview with the Turkish Anadolu news agency: “While the work of the Ministry of Energy lasts, we have an obligation to provide them with security. Today is completely different. It’s a Navtex for exercise with Alexandretta’s fire zone. “
Barbaros and Yavuz continue
At the same time, the two Turkish research vessels continue their activity in southern Cyprus.
Specifically, Barbaros conducts seismic studies in the marine area southeast of Megalonysos, within the Cypriot EEZ.
At the other end, in southwestern Cyprus, off the coast of Paphos, on plot 2, is the Turkish Yavuz drilling rig.
