Announcements for the launch of the movement on the islands will be made next week, said the Minister of Maritime Transport, Giannis Plakiotakis, speaking on SKAI TV and with Giannis Ntsounos and Christos Koutras.
He recalled that as of Monday (05/18) the travel ban from prefecture to prefecture will be lifted in continental Greece, as well as in Crete.
Especially on trips to Salamina, Evia and Lefkada, where it can be reached by car, the minister clarified that these are islands, so the restrictions on sea access apply as new as they apply to all islands except Crete.
Mr. Plakiotakis stated that at this time, travel to the islands is only allowed for employers and employees of operating companies. For example, he emphasized that the owner of a restaurant on an island cannot yet go to his business since the restaurants remain closed.
Regarding shipping, he said they start with 50% protocol capacity, which, as he noted, will change during the summer.
Regarding the use of a mask, Mr. Plakiotakis said it will be mandatory for staff and travelers in all areas of the ship, including on deck.
Regarding the opening of organized beaches, he stressed that organized water sports are not allowed, except for those carried out by private means.
