Greece has followed a successful strategy in terms of the number of coronary tests performed, said Deputy Minister of Health Vassilis Kontozamanis.
In his report on the progress of the pandemic in the country, Vassilis Kontozamanis even added that in a recent scientific publication, Greece ranked first in the number of tests carried out per confirmed case.

“Our strategy remains to conduct molecular blood tests and in this direction we have increased both the NSS production capacity and the number of tests available.” He added that recently a large supply of Hellenic Petroleum in the NSS was intensified: two machines with large production capacity in the “Attikon” and AHEPA hospitals, which further increase the country’s production capacity. “We have said that a test will be conducted when necessary,” said Mr. Kontozamanis.
He said EODY mobile groups have started specific country-wide excursions with priority on closed structures with vulnerable groups. “Depending on the instructions of the expert committee, we will be able to perform an even greater number of tests on any equipment deemed to do so,” he said.
2,903 tests in one week of the EODY mobile groups
Last week, mobile teams ran 2,903 tests, two of which were positive. Also at the Primary Health Care level, that is, in the Health Centers that operate exclusively for COVID 19, there was an attendance hearing and tests were carried out.
In the First Health District, 333 tests were carried out last month at the L. Alexandra, Kalyvia and Rafina Health Centers, of which 11 were positive. In the 2nd Health District, 220 tests were carried out, of which 10 were positive.
As the undersecretary said, “in the second phase, it is necessary to have an epidemiological surveillance of the crown and in this direction we are ready to begin an antibody test in the population.”
Regular surgeries
Until last Monday, regular surgeries began and around 2,200 were performed across the country. According to the Vice Minister, there will be clarifications on the performance of the test. However, as he said, if someone goes to a private structure to perform a planned operation, the test can be done in a public structure before the preoperative examination so that the cost is not charged.
