Tensions broke out on Sunday morning (10/5) at Profitis Ilias Ilioupolis with protesters and worshipers who clashed during a protest against the arbitrary building around the historic church.
According to Ilioupolinews.gr, on Sunday morning dozens of citizens were found in the Profitis Ilias church to carry out the symbolic dismissal and activist actions against the arbitrary building. During the escalation of the mobilizations of the citizen movement, there was a partial clash between protesters and believers, while the presence of the police was strong.
It is characteristic that despite the shock, the archimandrite of the Sacred Temple of Agia Marina Ilioupolis, Serafeim Dimitriou, continued the service in the open air, without interrupting for a moment the mystery of the Divine Liturgy, which lasted 3.5 hours.
The tensions ended with the intervention of the men of immediate action, while after a time the protesters left the place.
