Tourism minister Harris Theocharis presented at an online ONNED event, the health protocols which will come into effect, which were drafted by the government in collaboration with the EODY Commission on Infectious Diseases.

These protocols have already been presented to tourism agencies for consultation and submission of proposals.

The main points of the protocols, according to what Mr. Theocharis presented, include the following:

For flights:

  • A prerequisite for a foreign passenger to board a flight to Greece is that it has been received in the last 72 hours at the latest. health certificate who is not a bearer of the crown. Without it, there will be no boarding.
  • The flight capacity from, to and within Greece will be complete, without vacancies, so that, as he said, air transport is economically viable
  • For flights of up to four hours. no food will be served passengers but only packaged snacks
  • Tourists will leave the country without any control, so that we do not run the risk of catching them and remaining in quarantine in Greece, which would be a disincentive to choose our country as a vacation destination.

For accommodation:

  • The Ministry of Tourism will rent a tourist accommodation in each tourist area of ​​the country, which will function as “quarantine hotel”, where tourists who are wearing the crown will be transported
  • All hotels: tourist accommodation will be required consult a doctor, which either live or by telemedicine will determine if a tourist should undergo a coronary test. Corona testing will be completed within 6 hours at the latest, so anyone who tests positive will be transferred to “quarantine hotels”.
  • It will be done special staff training each hotel in special hygiene rules
  • They will not exist buffets in hotels, but only serving, except perhaps very small hotels
  • The hammocks will be diluted and have a disposable cover for each swimmer

As for tourism revenue, he said that last year it was 18 billion euros and this year we will have a maximum of 8 billion euros. Harris Theocharis announced in advance interstate agreements with countries like Bulgaria, Israel, Cyprus, for the free passage and return of Greek tourists to them.
