United States President Donald Trump said Saturday that China could face “consequences” without specifying what it means if it is considered “consciously” “responsible” for the spread of the coronation pandemic.
Trump made the statement during a daily briefing on his government’s efforts to tackle the pandemic.
“It just caught our eye then. But if she knew, yes, I mean, then there must be consequences,” Trump said, referring to China.
The Republican President and government officials have been criticizing Beijing in increasingly high tones lately, accusing the Chinese leadership of lacking transparency.
Trump has once again questioned the official account of the victims of the pandemic in China. The official report was revised upward by more than 1,000 victims on Friday. On Saturday, the Chinese Ministry of Health spoke of 4,632 deaths from COVID-19 disease out of a total of 82,719 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection by midnight on Friday.
