The bucket was thrown. At the suggestion of the Sotiris Tsiodras scientific committee, the Ministry of Education received the green light for the gradual, step-by-step or otherwise “fee-based” opening of schools.
Tomorrow Wednesday, the Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos, will announce from the Ministry of Health, in a joint press conference with Messrs. Tsiodra and Hardalia, the specialized measures for the gradual reopening of all educational structures.
Mr. Tsiodras announced that the expert committee has decided to gradually return to normal in the field of education: “It needs a lot of attention,” he said, adding that epidemiological data would be monitored. “Populations of children appear to be less at risk and less likely to spread. There is a stable and permanent image across the world. There was only one white vote in the Commission. They all said yes to the opening of the schools.” The teacher pointed out and stressed: “We do not want children to suffer anything bad, we suggest,” stressed Sotiris Tsiodras.
The opening hours of the schools.
The return to the desks begins after May 11 and gradually from the 3rd Lyceum, to the other classes in the Lyceum, and then to the secondary and elementary schools. In mid-June, the Panhellenic exams begin to be completed in mid-July, a period that, as stated by the Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos, will have completed all educational processes. In the plan prepared by the ministry, in close cooperation with the Committee of Experts of the Ministry of Health, and completed on one condition: maintain the image of the evolution of the coronary as it is now, without, that is, without exacerbation.
The safety valve in this are the many stages of return to rooms by class, which significantly reduces the risk of a large spread of the virus. The ministry plan foresees:
-
Opening of schools for the 3rd Lyceum on May 11 or 18 and within the same week, opening of the other classes of the Lyceum for teaching lasting 3 to 4 weeks.
-
A week later, on May 18 or 25, the high school opened
-
15 days later, on May 25 or June 1, opening in Primary and nurseries
-
Launches of panhellenic exams in the second 15 days of June and its completion in mid-July.
Rolling hours?
Experts have drawn attention to the need to take strict measures to protect students. The opening of schools will be accompanied by hand washing and the use of antiseptics necessarily before entering the classroom.
To avoid congestion, it is possible to apply a continuous schedule. That is, “divide” the teaching hours in two (for example, 8:15 – 11:00 and 11:15 – 14:00) to avoid coloring. The operation of the schools in the afternoon shift is also being studied.
Panhellenic in some groups per class and in more than double rooms
To carry out the panhellenic exams, a number of rooms more than double will be used so that the number of candidates per room does not exceed 10, with two supervisors per room and students at a distance of at least 2 meters. The use of antiseptics by all involved will be necessary. On the table is the use of halls and gyms, which will become examination centers in the days of the Panhellenic.
“We examined various scenarios, we also saw what shifts and reduced hours mean. All the scenarios we have worked on have been evaluated,” said Deputy Minister of Education Sofia Zacharaki.
